I've had the
car for about 7 yrs and I'm now the 14th owner! When I
first got it, it was in pretty poor condition, somebody
had sprayed it sky blue, it wasn't a good job, and you
could still see the original metallic brown paintwork.
They also used filler all over the place, so I ended up
effectively replacing all the panels apart from the roof.
I had to cut half a back off another Manta, as I had to
weld on the whole rear side of the car. When I started on
this, it went into the garage for 2yrs while it was being
striped down and new panels put on.

The colour of
this I believe is from a 74 Austin if you look at
it at different angles and in different light
conditions the colour shift is stunning. It has
taken about 4yrs to bring it up to what it is now;
I was still working on this the day before
Billing. |

It has a 2.2
Carlton engine with the full ECU management system wired
in, the engine is coming out shortly as it's now overdue
for a new timing chain, and the internals are going to
get a good going over. The conversion was very easy to do;
I kept the original 2ltr gearbox, which bolted straight
on as did the exhaust system. It has the twin headlight
conversion, PI spring with adjustable Spax suspension
struts, the 2.2 callipers and vented discs bolted
straight on. It has Astra GTE bonnet vents, and an
exclusive Recaro interior. The wheels are imported 15"
Borgini with 195 50 15 tyres.

The beauty of a
hatch is the massive boot in which I have a large
stereo system in which is currently running 13
speakers; it has a pioneer head unit and a 6-disc
multiplay CD player. This was the first time I've
entered a competition and wining was very
gratifying! To say the least. |
