More club cars?

| 14 months ago I
sold a car that won me best car of show in 95 or
was it 96? Anyway the colour was Starmist black
it had a 2.4 competition block, this was a highly
tuned car that unfortunately just sat in the
garage, and I needed a more economical car to
actually drive to work in everyday. So I part
exchanged it to get this car, and as you don't
see that many original exclusives any more, I
wanted to restore it to this condition. |

It needed new
floor pan each side, a new bonnet, a new 'A'
pillar and a chassis leg, and there were some
bubbles in the roof to sort out, but overall it
wasn't in to bad a condition. Also a couple of
the panels were different shades of blue, so a
total respray was called for inside and
out.Another bonus was the engine had only done
70K so that was pretty good. Overall it took 3½
months to get it in the condition here. Luckily I
got a friend who owns a body shop and he's done 5
of my cars before, and for the next ten weeks he
did all the welding and spraying for £900. |
| The grand total
I've spent on this car has been £1800, so it's
not bad for a mint exclusive. The object of this
was to keep it totally original, or as much as I
could. The only non-original feature is the Jetex
competition exhaust, other than that it's all
original. I have even found an original radio,
rear parcel shelf and speakers. I'm in the middle
of stripping out the underneath of the car at
this moment in time, lets see if I can win car of
the show this year, watch out Simon! |
