More club cars?

Owner: Clive Armstrong

I have had this car for 5 years now; I paid £200 for it, and the condition? Well it was ready for the breakers yard. It has taken all of 5 years to get it in the condition you see now and it's still an ongoing project.

I use it everyday, which everyone says you can't do, look at the exhaust manifold it looks new! All I can assume is it's down to preparation. I used high temperature paint, blasted it with a heat gun, put on another coat and did the same over and again; it took forever to do, but the results speak for themselves.

The engine is a 2 litre SRi. I changed the original because it wouldn't run on unleaded fuel I also wanted more performance from the car but with less weight at the front end.The installation was pretty much straightforward although I had to get a 1.8 gearbox and that bolted straight on.

I've done a lot of body mods such as the usual twin headlight conversion, side skirts, front & rear bumpers from a later model and for something different I put in louvered wings which amazingly keeps the inner wings really dry.

The wheels are Wolfrace Silverstone 15". The interior is all from a GT/E but with Exclusive seats. The interior needs finishing badly so this is my next project to find time to make up some different door cards and to install some door speakers.

Last year was the first time I entered a Concours and I won second place, but this year winning first was marvelous it has made all the hard work worthwhile.
