MYT 880L - 1972 Manta A 1780 Deluxe Automatic, in Bronze. It has been resprayed in a bronze which is slightly lighter than the original shade. I bought it earlier this year, when my long term daily driven Manta was written off by having an idiot driving into the back of it. I picked it up in Reigate, and my first journey was the 200 mile journey home to Yorkshire. This model was only sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.   I have just bought this as a "barn find" MGJ 8L - 1973 Manta A SR GT/E Modified, I rescued MGJ 8L from a dull existence in Dorset early last year. After taking my cash, the vendor said "Congratulations, you're now on the bottom rung of the classics ladder" What a cheeky bugger!
It's a 1972 manta A I've owned and rallied for 10 years. Onze nieuwe bolide VZW Bruneel-Vansteeland Racing Team Well, after 3 years of grief, here she is. I'm going to go historic rallying with it when its finished. trouble as well as everything its outside and i only get to work on it at weekends so work progress is slow. My name is Peter Choong and I'm from Malaysia. I have a 1971 Opel Manta A which I tracked down to a farmer in a small town back in 1994. Paid him RM2000 (or US$550) and had it towed home for restoration.
OOO OOO - 1973 Manta A Modified, This was originally a 1971 SR model which had the 1,6S engine and four speed GM gearbox, unusually it had a 45% limited slip differential. I bought it about 9 years ago. Since then it has been used on and off but always MOT'd every year.   VMT 409M - 1973 Manta A Turbo Prototype.  I believe my car was featured in Manta Magic some time ago (it used to be owned by an elderly gentleman from Chester who bought in new in 73 and sold it in 2000).
HPN 363L - 1973 Manta A 1900 SR, Dennis Battrick's, first vehicle was a Vespa scooter, his first car was a Renault Dauphine. But in 1973, after owning two VW Beetles, he saw the car for him, a 2nd hand Flame Red Manta A 1900SR in the showroom of Tates of Portslade. XAL 808M - Manta A 1780 Deluxe, in Signal Red, which was first registered on 1/8/73. It had one owner, who had it until 2000, and it then passed through the hands of a few traders, which was when I bought it, to rescue it. Here's pictures of my Opel 57 series I drive it every day if its not raining. On a cold December morning I hopped on the bus to Bristol (!!!) to check out this manta A, the guy, (a car mechanic) was very friendly and was willing to negotiate a sensible price; so there I was (freezing cold that day) arrived late afternoon, took the car out for a drive, hands were shaked and I was driving back to Newcastle upon Tyne same day! Here's a picture of my 1975 Opel Manta that I took
YDF 760K - 1972 Manta A 2.5 litre V6 Modified, I bought this particular car about 4 yrs ago. The car was originally an SR when I bought it and was a runner at the time, but it needed a fair amount of work done on it, I stripped it back to a bear shell and had it resprayed. OMB 270L - 1972 Manta A 1900SR Modified, I bought the car from a member in Cumbria in June 2000, along with a lot of spares. Although registered in '73, the last owner had written to Opel's head office and received official conformation of its Sept '72 date of build. NHM 770L - 1973 Manta A 1900 Berlinetta, I bought the car about 2 yrs ago, it's a 1.9 Berlinetta and the colour is Astro Silver.I have totally rebuilt the engine and had it converted to run on unleaded. The carburettor was changed to a Weber before I actually bought the car, and I have been told it is a common upgrade. HWY 91N - 1975 Manta A 1900SR, I bought HWY 91N nearly four years ago from a chap who’d had it since 1982. It was originally Signal Blue (bright turquoise) with black plastic seats and static seat belts. When I got it, it had been resprayed black (very good quality job), had black velour seats with lumbar adjustment and headrests. DPN 155K - 1972 Manta A 1900 Rallye Modified
Manta A Modified, I believe this is a dutch car, and if I'm right, this car is a good example of how not to modify your manta. There are some characters who try but don't come close to this car. UUC 397M - 1974 Manta A 1900 SR, one of the best A's in my neighbourhood belonged to the neighbour of a work colleague an apparently pristine white 1974 1900SR with black vinyl roof of registration number UUC 397M. In October 1986 when the same car appeared for sale in the local newspaper I couldn't get over there fast enough, shortly thereafter £850 changed hands and the 'White Queen' was all mine! TLP 32M - 1974 Manta A 1900 Rallye, I have had the car for about 4 yrs, the colour is flame red but it's more orange than red! The engine is a 1.9 with an automatic gearbox; the car has done a genuine 51,000 miles, and runs like a dream. Hello , here my Manta , need to restore sume but here it is ... Former concours winning Manta A 1900 SR formed the basis of Paul's project.
