More club cars

Owner: David Newton

I'm the second owner of this car and I've had the car for about 12yrs. When I first bought the car the colour was Carmine red, it was like new and had only covered 28k miles. I've added bits and pieces to the car over a period of years but it's only been the last three years that I've started doing major alterations.

The car has been resprayed Imperial Blue, the colour scheme came from Ford specifically from the Escort Cosworth range. It 's taken me the last 18 months to get it to the condition you see now. I managed to get it on the road just before Billing, and I've enjoyed driving it for about 5 months and I've just taken it off the road again as its far from being finished. I reckon so far I've spent in the region of 6k and it's still far from being finished.

At the moment I'm tinkering with a 2.7 V6 Honda engine I've got my old engine out I've tried the new engine in position it fits just about, but this is just the first stage I'm still not sure this is going to work! As this is a transverse engine the gearbox from this engine is of no use so I'm going to use my existing gearbox. The other major modification I've done is to cut out the existing sunroof which had rotted away as they do and replaced the roof panel with a roof from a Ford Fiesta I took a profile of off my roof went down the scrapyard and a Ford Fiesta Mk3 was the nearest match as it has a double curvature and that matched in quite well.

I've had the car lowered and uprated the suspension; it's also got willood callipers. The wheels are currently 16" TSW Stealth.

The interior is still the standard grey, I'm not too happy with this, so I'm looking to change the interior, I shall probably change that to a blue theme.
