The Car was totally original except for a
Cherry Bomb Back Exhaust and the Extra Spot Lights on the front. It
was a great car and always turned heads. It always amazed me that
people who drove Ford Capris were classed as "sad gits" but the Manta
had a completely different acceptable image all be it the same type of
vehicle. The usual boy Racers at the time, in Inverness, were running
XR2 and these were no match to the power of the Manta.
I have now got a family and a boring
Family Car (Rover214Si) but still dream of getting a nice GTE Coupe to
use and do up.
The thing that really makes me sad is that
the initial Mechanical problems that the Manta died of was simply a
Seized Front Brake Calliper. I have since learned more about cars and
could have had the car back on the road the same day, with a drop of
grease, instead it was left in the back garden and rotted away.
Please keep these great cars alive and I
hope you have as much enjoyment from yours as I had from mine.
