I am the
second owner of this car. I purchased the car in August
97, and on November the 16th it's going to be 20yrs old.
It's not a daily runner and as it only comes out on fair
& sunny days, it's basically a plaything for me. When
I first bought the car, shall we say it was just
driveable, and since then I've spent a small fortune on
it.
The
restoration has set me back £2,500 which isn't a lot in
restoration terms. But given the amount of money I've
since put into it, the cost of the 2ltr engine being
converted to unleaded and the various other bits &
pieces the car has needed, it's probably cost me £5000.
The interior of the car is not great, as the rear seats
have faded. So that's my next project to find someone to
recover the original interior!
The car has
won its class in the last 3yrs & won Car of the Show
in 1998. Overall the car has won 9 trophies & two
rosettes in the three years. I've considered selling it
on a number of occasions but given the rarity of the car
and the amount of money I've spent, of which I'd never
get back, I've decided against it. I have actually got
something no one else has got in this condition in the
country, and I'm one proud Preston owner.
